For the dreamers, the lovers of the city, those who lack color in the urban greyness, for you,

for your neighbor, for the stranger who passes by, Lise Bruyneel and I have imagined Échappées belles bxl.

They are sails above your eyes, under/in the sky of Saint-Gilles this summer. Floating in the wind, soaked by the rain or illuminated by the sun, they mix artistic disciplines and eras

around the theme of water. Water has dug the history of Saint-Gilles, but is no longer visible. The springs, the Elsbeek, the fountains and fish ponds, the water was everywhere, but today it is today buried, sent to

the sewer.

Here it comes back, ephemeral, suspended between trees or facades, transfigured by a selection of artists as powerful as the waves. A core of contemporary photography, but with

escapes to other centuries and other disciplines: painting, engraving, drawing, comics, digital arts or secret techniques related to water and light. Explosive, narrative, calm, militant,

gushing, mysterious, poetic, documentary, dreamy, water reveals itself under a thousand facets, in search of your glance. Let yourself be carried away, look up....
