Pluie’s photographic gesture is similar to that of a photogram. Nevertheless, the image here isn’t created by an object, it is instead generated by the impact of water droplets on the paper. This randomized process gives life to a variety of patterns evoking a kind of “photographic petri dish”. The image thickens, drops cover the surface according to the meteorological fluctuations, bringing a murkiness to the true nature of what is seen: spots, cells, fungi, craters or pure abstraction. Mirroring Pluie’s different patterns are the climate bulletins of each day. She employs the same gesture of extracting reality here. A meteorological situation’s terse sentences reveal their potential intrigue and poetry through the sampling and organizing of mundane expressions.
