Gradient

The base of the Gradient series lies on the very edge of the photographic film. Isolating a material detail of the film, which she amplifies to the extreme, Julie Calbert offers a kind of study, in the pictorial sense of the term, where only slight color variations distinguish the images from each other. And so, the disappearance of the subject becomes the subject itself. In this sense the artist radicalizes her image making process. From this vacancy, only an uncertain form remains, a vibrant horizon.
